Welcome to the beautiful City of Stockholm
There are many reasons for coming to Stockholm, the capital of Scandinavia. And it couldn't be easier, with flight connections from around the globe to Stockholm-Arlanda Airport. From there, it's just a short hop into the city centre. Public transport is excellent, so getting around the city is easy. Nothing is far away in Stockholm. You'll find world-class conference venues and a wide selection of hotels, cultural sites, shops, restaurants, cafés and bars within easy walking distance. Not to mention water, forests and unspoilt nature.
Room to breathe
With more than 400 conference venues and 22,000 hotel rooms, Stockholm is equipped for conventions of any size. It is one of the few cities able to provide the logistics for prestigious
conventions like the European Society of Cardiology, which draws more than 22,000 delegates at a time. No wonder it’s ranked among the top 10 congress cities in the world. At the forefront Stockholm is a city of science. It’s a leading centre for biotechnology, medical research and technology, and has northern Europe’s highest density of research and training centres.
Feast your eyes
Stockholm City is built on 14 islands, with sparkling water in every direction. And it’s so clean that you can swim a stone’s throw from the city centre. It’s a harmonic blend of old and new,
where ultra-modern and medieval architecture happily coexist. Take a walk among the narrow, cobblestoned streets of the Old Town and feel the living presence of history all around you.
Stockholm – the first European green capital 2010
Stockholm has been named as the first winner of the European Green Capital award. The European Commission's new award scheme encourages cities to improve the quality of urban life by taking the environment systematically into account in urban planning. Everything from water protection plans, to public transport and work to reduce fossil fuel emissions was reviewed, and Stockholm is considered a front-runner in all aspects.
